Wrapping lightweight pallets: how to avoid rotations and falls during wrapping

Anyone who works with stretch film every day knows that not all pallets are created equal. So-called lightweight pallets—for example, loaded with empty boxes, Styrofoam, or plastic bottles—can turn a simple packing operation into a challenge: even the slightest pull on the film can cause the pallet to rotate or, worse still, cause the load to fall.

In these cases, the problem is not the operator's skill, but the very nature of the load, which is too light to resist the tension of the stretch film.
Let's see how to safely wrap even the most unstable pallets and what solution BRACKY has developed to simplify the job.

What is meant by a lightweight pallet and why it tends to rotate during wrapping

When we talk about light pallets we are referring to pallets with loads that are bulky but not very heavy , such as:

  • Empty or lightweight cardboard boxes
  • Polystyrene elements
  • Empty plastic containers (bottles, test tubes, trays, etc.).

When wrapping these pallets, the tensile force exerted by the stretch film may exceed the weight of the load itself. In this case, the pallet may rotate with the film or, in the worst cases, the load may shift or fall off the perimeter of the base.

The problem is common not only with manual wrapping, but also with rotating wrapping machines , where the plate (or base) rotates under the load: if the weight is insufficient, the pallet rotates unstably or becomes misaligned.
Some companies try to block it with improvised solutions (wedges, weights, platforms, adhesive tape), but these methods are slow, uncomfortable and unsafe.

A problem that wastes time (and productivity)

A pallet that rotates or moves during wrapping slows down the entire packing process .
Often two people are needed to complete the job: one to hold the pallet steady and the other to apply the film.
This means double the time and higher costs , as well as the risk of damaging the goods or compromising the quality of the packaging.

In a manufacturing or logistics context, even a few extra minutes per pallet can have a real economic impact at the end of the day.

The BRACKY solution: the anti-rotation block for lightweight pallets

To definitively solve the problem of light pallets rotating during wrapping, BRACKY has developed a practical, effective and universal anti-rotation block .
This is a simple-to-install device that keeps the pallet perfectly stable while wrapping it with stretch film, preventing rotation and movement.

The block is designed to remain below the level of the film , so as not to interfere with the bandage, and can be removed quickly thanks to the ergonomic and intuitive quick release lever.
If multiple pallets need to be wrapped in sequence, the blocks can remain in place: the pallet can be removed without constraints, allowing for continuous and uninterrupted work .

With the BRACKY anti-rotation lock:

  • A single operator can wrap even the lightest loads;
  • the risk of the pallet rotating or falling is eliminated;
  • time is saved and operational safety is improved;
  • No machine modifications or expensive investments are required.

In short: wrapping a light pallet is no longer a problem

With the anti-rotation magnetic block like the one designed by BRACKY, even light and unstable pallets can be wrapped easily, quickly and safely.

A small but strategic accessory, which:

  • Prevents pallet rotations and falls
  • Reduces the number of operators required for the operation
  • Improves the quality of the bandage
  • It saves time and costs
